SickKids Foundation

Ontario

The SickKids Foundation raises much-needed funds to support the SickKids hospital in Toronto, Ontario, an organization that provides care for 150,000 patients across the Greater Toronto Area each year. SickKids is also a national center for many complex medical procedures/illnesses and is known as one of the world’s top children’s hospitals. It is Canada’s leading centre dedicated to improving children’s health and has over 100 years of experience as a leader and innovator. The SickKids Foundation is also a proud partner of the A Family of Support: Child & Youth Mental Health Initiative.

The team at SickKids believes that fighting for the health and wellbeing of children is one of the most powerful ways to improve society. By working together and with partners in the community, SickKids is able to lead transformational change to improve the lives of children everywhere and create a better world for all. For many Canadian children requiring specialized care, SickKids isn’t simply the best option – it’s the only one.

“With brain and mental health challenges sometimes the journey is long, and the barriers and obstacles can be overwhelming or suffocating – but with the experts and researchers at Sick Kids hospital, we move down the path together, leading to better outcomes for kids, for families, and for our community.” -Marlowe, Age 12

How your donations will help

Your donations will help fund the Centre for Brain & Mental Health at SickKids hospital. This Centre strives to support all children, regardless of the health challenges they face, in reaching their full potential. Because many mental health and neurological challenges begin in childhood, studying them in the context of a world leading children’s hospital allows researchers to develop innovative therapies to promote better outcomes over a child’s lifespan. The Centre’s experts can accelerate discovery and inform best practices across SickKids, the province, and the country by integrating research, education, and clinical care across a range of disciplines – Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroscience, Psychology and Social Work – and by leveraging SickKids’ large, diverse patient population.
